Services and Pricing

For Full and Custom tiers, we charge a planning fee upfront. We also sometimes receive commissions from hotels and other partners. These don't affect what you pay and they never influence what we recommend.

Specialties: A Few Things I Do Particularly Well

College tour planning

Booking college tours is more involved than it sounds. Campus visit appointments have to be made weeks or months in advance. The logistics of visiting multiple schools in a few days, often in unfamiliar cities, require careful routing. And the whole point is that the parent can actually be present with their kid rather than managing a spreadsheet.

I schedule campus appointments, book flights and hotels (with perks where available), plan ground transport between campuses, and build a full itinerary with day-by-day instructions. I've planned college tours in New York City, the Pacific Northwest, and other markets.

Accessible travel

I’ve completed Fora’s accessibility training, and I have personal experience with mobility challenges and energy-limiting chronic illness. I know what questions to ask hotels and tour operators, and I know that "accessible" covers a wide range of actual situations. If accessibility is a factor in your trip planning, tell me specifically what matters and I'll research accordingly.

Multigenerational and group travel

Multigenerational trips are logistically complex in ways that aren't always obvious upfront: different mobility needs, different pace preferences, different budgets, sometimes different arrival dates. I'm good at building itineraries that hold together across a group without forcing everyone into the same thing every day.

I also handle group bookings for conferences, retreats, and destination weddings. Email me to discuss: rebecca.novick@fora.travel

Japan

More than half of my clients have taken Japan trips. It's a destination I know well, have researched extensively, and have strong opinions about: which regions reward slowing down, where to go if you want to get away from the crowds that Tokyo and Kyoto draw, how to navigate the rail system, and where to find the version of Japan that belongs to people who actually live there. If Japan is on your list, I can help.

How We Work

What happens after you reach out:

  1. Intro call (30 minutes, free) We talk through what you're thinking: destination, timing, who's traveling, what matters most to you. I'll ask questions. You'll get a sense of whether this is a good fit. No commitment required.

  2. Planning fee and agreement Once we've agreed to work together, I'll send an invoice for the planning fee and a short service agreement. Work starts when both are complete.

  3. Research and itinerary build I research hotels, activities, routing, and logistics, then present you with options and recommendations. We work together to get it right, then I handle all the bookings.

  4. Your trip, handled You receive a complete itinerary with all confirmation details. For Custom trips, I'm available by phone and email while you're traveling. For Full trips, I'm reachable through your departure date.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • The planning fee covers my time: the research, the itinerary building, the back-and-forth until it's right. Hotel commissions are separate and come from the hotel, not from you, and they don't affect what I recommend. If a locally-owned guesthouse is the right choice for your trip but doesn't pay commission, that's what I'll book.

  • Research and judgment, mostly. I know which hotels in a given destination actually deliver on what they promise, which guides are worth hiring, which neighborhoods put you close to what you want, and which must-sees can safely be skipped. You could spend 20 hours researching and still not get there. And if you want to stay involved in the fun part of the research, I'm happy to work that way — some of my best trips have come out of a real back-and-forth with a client who had strong opinions.

  • For complex international trips, 3–6 months is ideal, since some hotels and experiences book up well in advance. For simpler trips, 6–8 weeks usually works. College tours often need more lead time than people expect because campus visit slots fill up fast. If your timeline is tighter than any of that, reach out anyway and I'll tell you what's realistic

  • Yes, for Custom tier clients. For Essential and Full tier bookings flights aren't included, but I'm happy to talk through timing and routing if you have questions.
